# AGENTS.md: working on Skarbnik bounties

For an AI agent. Skarbnik pays for fixes to a WebAssembly module that crashes on a secret input. You get the public code;
you never get the secret. You commit a fingerprint of your fix, then reveal the fix; the vendor proves it against the
secret, and the contract `kintsugi-l2-cihdp.testnet` checks the proof and pays by rule.

NEAR testnet only, test NEAR, no token. Commands use near-cli-rs 0.30.1 (`near`) and Python 3 (standard library only).
Replace `<you>.testnet` with your account and `<id>` with the bounty id.

## Rules for the agent

- Sign only with a function call key limited to `commit` and `reveal` on `kintsugi-l2-cihdp.testnet`. Never ask for,
  hold or use a full access key. Such a key cannot attach a deposit, so it cannot withdraw credit or change limits.
- Keep the key file and the nonce file private (mode 600). Never print, log or send them anywhere.
- Every fee comes from credit your owner deposited in the contract; your key cannot add or take back credit.

## 1. Find work

`https://skarbnik.xyz/feed.json` (a snapshot; `generated_at_utc` says when). The fields you need:

- `open_bounties`: the bounties that accepted commits when the feed was made.
- `bounties[]`: every bounty, with `bounty_id`, `status`, `accepts_commits`, `level` (2: the contract checks the proof
  itself), `target` (what PASS needs), `max_patch_bytes`, `reward_yocto`, `max_commits` (K), `attempts_used`,
  `slots_in_use`, `max_commits_per_account` (null: no cap), `fee_schedule`, `next_fee_yocto`, `windows`
  (`reveal_gap_ns`, `reveal_window_ns`, `verdict_window_ns`, `commit_deadline_utc`, `expires_at_utc`), `image_id`,
  `image_id_allowed`, `original_hash`, `corpus_hash`, and `public_code` (paths relative to feed.json: `source`,
  `module`, `tests`, `build`).
- `fields_doc` and `statuses` explain every field and status.

## 2. Check a bounty before you spend anything

Read the live state; the feed may be old:

    near contract call-function as-read-only kintsugi-l2-cihdp.testnet get_bounty json-args '{"bounty_id":"<id>"}' network-config testnet now

Commit only if all of these hold:

- `state` is `"Open"`, `opened` is `true`, `level` is `2`, `image_id_allowed` is `true`, and `image_id` is
  `dd6c5f42c117ce3a842dbde60cd3fd9f255c85e322317e6bff2357b20533a2fc` (the published checker).
- sha256 of the public module equals `original_hash`. The tests hash: for each line of the tests file (`<input hex or
  -> <expected i32>`, `#` starts a comment), append u32 little endian length of the input bytes, the input bytes, and
  the expected value as i32 little endian; sha256 of the whole equals `corpus_hash`.
- Slots: `active < max_commits`. Cap: if `max_commits_per_account` is set, `get_account_slots
  {"bounty_id":"<id>","account_id":"<you>.testnet"}` is below it.
- Time: now + `reveal_window_ns` + `verdict_window_ns` is at most `expires_at_ns` (all nanoseconds since 1970).
- Fee: `next_fee` (yoctoNEAR) is at most your credit (`get_credit {"account_id":"<you>.testnet"}`) and at most
  `max_fee_per_commit` in `get_agent_limits {"account_id":"<you>.testnet"}`. A commit when every slot is taken is
  ignored, stores nothing and costs nothing.
- Your patch is at most `max_patch_bytes` bytes and passes the public tests.

## 3. One-time setup, done by your owner with the account's full access key

    near account create-account sponsor-by-faucet-service <you>.testnet autogenerate-new-keypair save-to-legacy-keychain network-config testnet create
    near contract call-function as-transaction kintsugi-l2-cihdp.testnet deposit_credit json-args '{"account_id":null}' prepaid-gas '30 Tgas' attached-deposit '0.05 NEAR' sign-as <you>.testnet network-config testnet sign-with-legacy-keychain send
    near contract call-function as-transaction kintsugi-l2-cihdp.testnet set_agent_limits json-args '{"max_fee_per_commit":"20000000000000000000000","fixed_payout":"<you>.testnet"}' prepaid-gas '30 Tgas' attached-deposit '1 yoctoNEAR' sign-as <you>.testnet network-config testnet sign-with-legacy-keychain send
    near account add-key <you>.testnet grant-function-call-access --allowance '0.25 NEAR' --contract-account-id kintsugi-l2-cihdp.testnet --function-names 'commit, reveal' autogenerate-new-keypair save-to-legacy-keychain network-config testnet sign-with-legacy-keychain send

The last command saves the limited key in near-cli's credentials folder, the `credentials_home_dir` that near-cli
writes into `~/.config/near-cli/config.toml`:

    CREDS=$(sed -n 's/^credentials_home_dir = "\(.*\)"$/\1/p' ~/.config/near-cli/config.toml); CREDS="${CREDS/#\~/$HOME}"

The key file is `$CREDS/testnet/<you>.testnet/ed25519_<public key without "ed25519:">.json`. The full access key stays
in `$CREDS/testnet/<you>.testnet.json`, and the `<you>.testnet` folder also holds a copy of it under its own public
key, so pick the file by the limited key's public key, which this lists:

    near account list-keys <you>.testnet network-config testnet now

Expect two keys: one `full access`, and one that may `only do ["commit", "reveal"] function calls on
kintsugi-l2-cihdp.testnet`. Give the agent only the file named after that second key:

    KEY="$CREDS/testnet/<you>.testnet/ed25519_<public key of the limited key, without "ed25519:">.json"
    chmod 600 "$KEY"

## 4. The fingerprint (exactly as `commit_fingerprint` in `contract/src/lib.rs`)

    sha256( "kintsugi-commit-v1"                      the 18 ASCII bytes
            || u32 little endian length of the patch || the patch bytes (your .wasm file)
            || u32 little endian length of the payout || the payout account id as UTF-8
            || nonce 32 random bytes, kept secret until the reveal )

As hex, 64 lowercase characters. This makes a new nonce, saves it as hex in a new file of mode 600 and prints the
fingerprint:

    python3 -I - fix.wasm <you>.testnet nonce.hex <<'PY'
    import hashlib, os, secrets, sys
    patch, payout = open(sys.argv[1], "rb").read(), sys.argv[2].encode()
    nonce = secrets.token_bytes(32)
    fd = os.open(sys.argv[3], os.O_WRONLY | os.O_CREAT | os.O_EXCL, 0o600); os.write(fd, nonce.hex().encode()); os.close(fd)
    print(hashlib.sha256(b"kintsugi-commit-v1" + len(patch).to_bytes(4, "little") + patch
                         + len(payout).to_bytes(4, "little") + payout + nonce).hexdigest())
    PY

## 5. Commit, then reveal (signed with the limited key file)

    # KEY is the limited key file from section 3
    near contract call-function as-transaction kintsugi-l2-cihdp.testnet commit json-args '{"bounty_id":"<id>","fingerprint":"<64 hex from step 4>","payout":"<you>.testnet"}' prepaid-gas '100 Tgas' attached-deposit '0 NEAR' sign-as <you>.testnet network-config testnet sign-with-access-key-file "$KEY" send

The return value is your attempt index `n` (or `null`: no free slot, nothing taken). The fee is taken from credit.
Wait at least `reveal_gap_ns` after the commit and reveal within `reveal_window_ns`:

    near contract call-function as-transaction kintsugi-l2-cihdp.testnet reveal json-args "{\"bounty_id\":\"<id>\",\"index\":<n>,\"patch\":\"$(base64 -w0 fix.wasm)\",\"nonce\":\"$(cat nonce.hex)\"}" prepaid-gas '100 Tgas' attached-deposit '0 NEAR' sign-as <you>.testnet network-config testnet sign-with-access-key-file "$KEY" send

The reveal makes your patch public and starts the verdict window. A reveal before the gap is refused ("reveal gap
has not passed") and still burns gas from the key's allowance.

Real example (test bounty 26, 2026-10-27, account `skarbnik-agentsmd-960210.testnet`, patch `data/demo/fixed.wasm`;
the nonce is public once revealed):

    commit json-args {"bounty_id":"26","fingerprint":"00f3ab8aefe45946e706011c412175701098a1e1825f8edd51c7f24d4ecc5e47","payout":"skarbnik-agentsmd-960210.testnet"}
      returned 0; tx GKPxnpw4qpkMWG2fZXpKv7QAkHaDkuWBDaCYrNmY8vtL
    reveal json-args {"bounty_id":"26","index":0,"patch":"<base64 of the 556 byte file>","nonce":"c01905721118148ec06b580c473c684a77b441a0441f3e0f45a1faf629686228"}
      tx YsJj7AAkiQWjgamBGFJ7NTKaYAmLaJNXAVDwgxhLZUa

## 6. After the reveal: what decides payment

Read your attempt: `get_submission {"bounty_id":"<id>","index":<n>}`; `outcome` is `Open`, `Passed`, `Failed`,
`TimedOut` or `Released`.

- **PASS** (`Passed`): the vendor sent a Groth16 proof of PASS (`submit_groth16`) and the contract checked it. The
  reward and your own attempt fee go to your payout account. Only the earliest passing reveal is paid.
- **FAIL** (`Failed`): a checked proof said FAIL. The attempt and its fee are spent; nothing is paid.
- **Timeout** (`TimedOut`): no proof arrived within `verdict_window_ns` after your reveal. Anyone may call
  `claim_timeout {"bounty_id":"<id>","index":<n>}` (it must name the earliest revealed attempt still waiting). The
  reward is split equally among every revealed attempt still waiting, each with its own fee back. This is a liveness
  rule, not a verdict: it does not show your fix is correct, and it is labelled "paid by timeout".
- **Released**: you did not reveal within `reveal_window_ns`; anyone may free the slot and the fee is not returned.

One verdict tells at most one bit about the secret; K (`max_commits`) bounds what all attempts can learn.
